The balsawood bridge has been one of my favorite projects to do since 7th grade. I've always loved building things with my hands, so this project is perfect for me, which is why I was excited when I got to do it again this year, in Engineering Graphics. I wanted to challenge myself this time, though, and decided to try and build an arch bridge. This proved to be more difficult than I thought it would, and took a few tries to get it right, but I was proud of myself when I finally did get it. Another thing I love about this project is the planning process. Drawing the blueprints to the bridge always makes me feel like a real engineer, not just a kid with some sticks and glue. Even though this bridge only held 15 lbs, I think it's some of my best work because I put a lot of time and thought into it, and because this bridge is the closest I've come to actually engineering something, which inspires me to engineer something even better.
